Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations
First and second order ordinary differential equations with applications, Laplace transforms, series solutions and qualitative behavior, Fourier series, partial differential equations, boundary value problems, Sturm-Liouville theory. Intended primarily for engineering and science students. Prerequisite: 1)Math 202, Math 212, or Math 222; 2)Math 216, Math 218, or Math 221. Not open to students who have had Mathematics 356. One course.
Usually offered Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Besides the prerequisite Math 216, students should have taken Math 212, multivariable calculus, which is a prerequisite for Math 216. Students who have taken Math 218 or 221 should take Math 356 instead for a first course on ordinary and partial differential equations.
