Speaker(s):Bryan Rusch (Duke University)
Math department members are invited to this DEI Training where you will learn how to approach disability and accommodations through the lens of identity and individualization. The first hour will focus on understanding what Disability is, and its historical development; the second hour will focus on Duke's institutional approaches to Disability, with specific best practices catered to Mathematics. Bryan Rusch is a fifth year PhD Candidate in Duke's Art History Program studying the history of medical design in North Carolina. Since his undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering at Duke, Bryan has engaged with Disability advocacy, awareness, community and curricular initiatives on campus for nine continuous years. His most recent work with departmental trainings and community organizing has been supported by Duke Student Affairs and the Duke Human Rights Center. Join us before the training for a departmental lunch at 12pm in the Math Lounge (Physics 101).
