Fellowships and Grants

In addition to the list of opportunities below, keep in mind that many conferences/workshops have funding to support graduate students.

Duke graduate fellowships

The Graduate School offers a number of fellowships.  Those most commonly applied for by mathematics graduate students include:

NSF grants

  • National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
  • Graduating students should consider applying for the NSF Postdoctoral Fellowships.
  • Standard NSF grant (select the appropriate Disciplinary Research Program when the new webpage opens).  While only US citizens, nationals and permanent residents are eligible for the graduate and postdoctoral fellowships, there is no such restriction on the standard grant.
  • MIT has an NSF grants template.
