"The mathematical foundations of my education enabled me to pursue an advanced education in Statistics which provided me with the ability to lead data-driven decision-making for one of the largest retailers in the world. Perhaps more importantly, the rigor of logical thinking developed while obtaining a Duke math degree has been critical in influencing other executives throughout my career."
"Pursue the classes you are passionate about! Most people would argue that my classes in advanced logic and non-Euclidean geometry were pretty esoteric given that I am now a retail executive. However, they stretched my thinking skills and were among my favorite coursework. I definitely am a better problem solver as a result of these courses. Not every course needs to be about preparing for a career directly."
