How has being a Mathematics graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"I initially planned to go into biochemistry and having a strong math/physics background would have been helpful. I pivoted my junior year to medicine and am now an NIH funded clinician researcher in Emergency Medicine. More practical training in analytic software such as STATA or R and statistics would have been very helpful."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Mathematics programs?

"For students in mathematics know that you can pick electives and adjust your training to help in a multitude of careers. I felt like phd was the only option at the time, but hopefully now things are very different."
