How has being a Mathematics graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

I feel that studying mathematics at Duke really helped me hone my skills in reasoning and linear thought processes, which are very important in the practice of medicine.

What advice would you give students in Duke's Mathematics programs?

Successfully obtaining a degree in mathematics at Duke is really a testament to a student's ability to reason and think logically, which are very important in many career paths, not just those that directly involve mathematics. Sometimes, it feels that mathematics courses get exponentially harder (no pun intended) as one progresses through them, but I really felt that professors in the Duke mathematics department were very much invested in seeing their students succeed.
