2007 Ph.D., Mathematics, 2003 M.A., Mathematics
"The Mathematics department supported my growth intellectually, socially, and professionally. The department itself greatly refined my ability to reason, both sharply and practically. Coming from an applied math background which was housed in a school of engineering, Duke welcomed my undergraduate skills, challenged me to add pure mathematics components to them, and empowered me to find my own path when standard approaches were less efficient. The department further empowered me to contribute to the greater Duke community through participation in student government, a myriad of university committees, and various leadership opportunities. The combination of all of those skill sets have supported my professional work in start-ups, progress to senior technical positions, and leadership roles in the management of teams."
"If you are looking for a department which enables growth both in the discipline and through opportunities found in the greater university, welcome home."
