Topics in Applied Mathematics

MATH 690-70

690-70 01 : Course description: In this course, we will introduce quantum algorithms and quantum computing from numerical analysis prospective. We will first go over fundamental principles and basics of quantum mechanics and quantum computing, and then delve into discussing quantum algorithms of various tasks for scientific computing purposes, including numerical linear algebra tasks, numerical differential equation tasks. We will introduce modern techniques to construct quantum algorithms such as quantum phase estimation, block-encoding, quantum signal processing (QSP) and quantum singular value transformation (QSVT).

An advanced course in areas of applied mathematics. Topics vary by semester.
